ABOUT Joyce

​Joyce is a professional Makeup Artist with a great passion for art and beauty.  Her brand name ‘Podoa’ which is a Swahili word meaning ‘to make beautiful’ embodies everything about her work. She has a natural talent for art, a characteristic she exhibited right from childhood.

Joyce studied Architecture at the University of Nairobi in Kenya. She later moved to Canada where she attended Sheridan College for the Makeup for Media and Creative Arts program to pursue her makeup passion. She specialized in beauty, editorial, film and television, body art, theatrical and special effects makeup application.

Her unique, professional and edgy approach has enabled her to work with a number of photographers, film directors such as Stefano Notaro and models including Miss Toronto World 2018 Beatrice Andrada. Joyce has also done makeup for fashion brands such as Nike Toronto, Ekaj and AAchera Fashion Atelier,  fashion designers and theatrical productions including Electric Moon Theatre Company and Dramaworks Production.

She credits her attention to finite detail and ability to think outside the box to her architecture background. Joyce aims at using her passion, friendly presence, and infectious optimism to inspire those around her, be at the top of her game and elevate the makeup industry to a new level.
